Our 3 Year Professional Midwifery School combines several seminars and full-length (12 week) UofN Courses.
The University of the Nations LifeReach Campus has designed a three year midwifery program. It is held as a local, El Paso, Texas, USA, academic program AND a mobile program to other national and international locations!
During the three years, the students can attend studies in various locations with the expectation for the remainder of the year working alongside approved preceptors or other care providers, either in their home area or in other desired locations to gain experience as an field assignment/internship.
Since there are various locations for the primary coursework, students must be available for training when the course commences,
with any visa or travel issues resolved in advance of their arrival.
Students have a series of courses which progressively prepares them with specific skills that can be used from the first week of training in employment and missions!
Students are able to find the portion of midwifery that God is highlighting to them as their heart's desire and God's gifting.
Students can expect to dive deeper in their knowledge, skills, attitudes, understanding and work load with each term. This method has proven to provide confidence and competence as students transition from labour companion, to intern care attendant, through residency into professional practice!
This is the preferred order of coursework and experience:
Year One:
Doula/Labour Companion Seminar CNH 173
(CNH 174 Field Assignment is optional)
Birth Attendant School (aka Midwife Assistant) CNH 271
This can be taken in two 6-week Sessions in different locations
Students must provide proof of education through high school/secondary school,
and need to have certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
We can assist with the CPR locally (El Paso) if needed, before the course commences.
(CNH 272 Field Assignment may be taken as an internship)
